Great post - thanks - reading A History of Reading - A. Manguel- imagining an boy from Argentina, living in Berlin and reading A Tree Grows in Brooklyn in translation. The mind, it boggles!!! Love the stories!
Loved the photos in this post! I would likely have "crooked neck syndrome" if I ever got to visit Kells incredible library, walking slowly head tilted sideways to read all the titles (happens to me often in used bookstores...).
I was unfamiliar with Kells, but now I want to read some of his books! “Books-about-books” is one of my favorite genres.
If I ever succeed in opening my own used bookshop, there will be a section labeled “Bibliophilia.” It will hold all those odd memoirs about reading, books about libraries and bookstores, and literary criticism.

“Crooked neck syndrome”! LOL. I would be similarly afflicted.

Landmark Books in downtown Franklin, Tennessee, has several shelves dedicated to books about books. I always check that spot out first!
I so thoroughly enjoyed this!! And very jealous of his library. He's fascinating! Thank you!
Thanks for reading, Wendy! Glad you enjoyed it.
I own this but haven’t read it yet.
I’ve not heard of that! Sounds a bit like Phantoms on the Bookshelves by Jacques Bonnet. Thanks for mentioning it!
