Hey Joel, do you have a recommend for biography of Robert Louis Stevenson ... I think you said you were planning to write something about him soon?

Well, I wrote this: https://www.millersbookreview.com/p/robert-louis-stevenson-jekyll-and-hyde But I’m not planning on more just now. I’m afraid I don’t know a great bio.

Hey Joel,

I am a lifelong setter of goals. That said, I agree with James Clear (author of Atomic Habits) that "we don't rise to our goals but fall to our systems."

Two of my goals are to drink more water and read my Greek NT more frequently. I was doing okay with both, but not great. When I clarified a better system for both, I improved significantly.

I continue to set goals including what and how much I will read each year. I even put together a five-year reading plan that takes me to age 70. :)

Yep, dialing up the systemization makes all the difference. Also: A five-year reading plan is ambitious!

In my twenties Howard Hendricks told us about an 80-year-old woman that he met. She informed Hendricks that she just set her five-year goals. At 65, I figure I am a slacker if I don't do the same!

Joel - you have a great system here. This is almost identical to what I started doing several years ago when I wanted to become more intentional about my reading practice. It works great! Best of luck in 2024.
