I read Quicksand a couple of years back and found it absolute devastating and haunting. I have Passing and am even more excited to read it now!

They’re both excellent and Passing is truly special.

"She comes to the end of herself" -- what a great way to put it. Your review made me look at myself -- how religion and other factors have affected me. Great review and thank you.

Thanks for the review. Passing was made into an excellent movie. The style is beautiful, understated, but heartbreaking.

I have read Passing, probably on your recommendation. It is very enlightening. Going to find Quicksand. And I only color outside the lines…

Thank you for this. I first heard of Larsen about a year ago and have wanted to read Passing. This is a nice additional encouragement to do so (though few books compare to Gatsby!).

I bet you’ll be surprised by the overlap. The books “talk” very well with each other.

Read both Quicksand and Passing. Love her style of writing, the way you feel she is talking to you. Sad stories, but both so well written. Thanks for the recommendation.
